Little Bs
Little Brooklands day nursery opened in 2004 and has gone from strength to strength. It is situated within the grounds of Brooklands School and enjoys the School's facilities and environment.
It is dedicated to providing professional childcare and education for children from 3 months to 3½ years wiht the aim of preparing children for Brooklands School after the child's third birthday.
There are 4 rooms:
- Baby Bs (3 - 9 months)
- Bumble Bs (9 - 18 months)
- Buzzy Bs (18 - 27 months)
- Big Bs (27 - 42 months)
Within each of the four rooms there is a dedicated team of qualified staff and each child has their own keyworker, who observes their development in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Forest school
The idea of Forest Schools comes from Scandinavia, where the children play and learn in woodlands and other outside areas, as part of their curriculum.
Learning in the outdoor environment can help with self esteem, confidence, independence, empathy, social skills and communication, all of which link with the Early Years Foundation Stage objectives.
Initially the project was run on the School grounds, where the children were able to get used to learning outside in familiar surroundings, but thanks to the Chairman of Governors help, Deer Park Woodland was identified as our Forest School base last August and has since been used on a weekly basis throughout the year.
There is always so much to do and enjoy in the woods. Children were be able to learn about the environment, make dens, enjoy woodland crafts, clamber over obstacle courses and just have fun learning outside the classroom!
Leaps and Bounds
Is a progressive physical and movement programme for children aged 2-5 years, designed to compliment the indoor and outdoor physical activities provided by the Nursery.
Children are encouraged through a sequence of tasks to develop skills including locomotion, agility, balance, climbing and co-ordination.
Socatots
Is a soccer specific play programme for children from walking to 5 years. Sessions incorporate specially designed equipment used by fully qualified staff creating a fun yet educational atmosphere.
